The school is well run, respectful to both parents and students, has terrific instructors, and the program is well rounded. The instruction is age appropriate from pre-school through middle school. I have to say I am still impressed by how well the instructors manage groups of such young children.

I highly recommend Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Doe. Even beyond the organized office, the pleasant location, and the inspiring curriculum, the skillful instruction makes this school superior. To watch Master Rhee instruct my kids is to watch a master indeed; he can be funny and stern at the same time, and his manner with the young ones is never abrupt or condescending.

The Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do instructors are committed, highly qualified and caring. It is a martial arts program appropriate for everyone - all ages and backgrounds – but it is especially valuable for kids.

Our son had been placed in the advanced reading program in Kindergarten and academically has been doing great yet we were struggling with how to divert his high energy into something constructive and beneficial. We saw the ad in the ParkTakes catalog last Spring for the Jhoon Rhee Program and thought, we should give it another chance as we had not previously tried your program. Thank goodness we did! He has absolutely “bloomed” since we started him at Jhoon Rhee in Falls Church.

I think that the Jhoon Rhee program benefited the boys in a variety of ways. Physically is helped them improve their sense of balance and body coordination. It also helped to teach them perseverance. The road to a Black Belt is not always easy and both boys had their failures at time. However the instructors were able to maintain a balance between encouragement and fun on one hand and commitment to a goal on the other which helped my boys stick with the program.

Jhoon Rhee takes discipline and respect very seriously, and they work hard with each individual student to teach those values. In addition to the class time, the kids must perform home tasks in order to qualify for the next belt. These tasks are important life skills such as cleaning your room, showing respect, eating vegetables, exercising, etc. The program is rewarding for the kids, as they are able to advance to a new belt approximately every 4 weeks, and there are occasional tournaments. The teachers are fantastic, and are excellent role models for the kids. They impose discipline and respect, but also reward and praise.

The facilities are bright, open and safe, with an area for parents to watch the instruction. The instructors are skilled, patient and tolerant and the policy of the school is to hold the children to a high standard, but practice behavior modification by expectation and praise.

He is the oldest of our children, and our only boy, so we thought it would be a great way for him to learn discipline, self defense and physical fitness, and we have not been disappointed.
